46F.    Becoming A Member Of The Body Of Christ

Bible Study Lessons Table

Baptism is the last step in becoming a member of the "one body", but everyone must make sure that he is being baptized in the one body which is of Christ, otherwise he is not after saving his soul but receiving the punishment of God.

46F.1   Is a man who is in search of the means to his salvation free to choose the place where he will be baptized?

In I Corinthians 12:13, this is stated:

For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. (NKJV)

A  man cannot choose the place where he can attain salvation for there is only "one body" where man can receive the true baptism.
Apostle Paul explains: "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free"

46F.2   When one is baptized into the "one body", what does he become?

For the body does not consist of one member but of many. (1 Corinthians 12:14,  Revised Standard)

He becomes a member of the "one body".

46F.3   Which then is the "one body" in Christ?

The following verses will give us the answer:

And He is the head of the body, the church, . . . . . . . (Colossians 1:18, NKJV)

And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. (Matthew 16:18, RSV)

For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. (Ephesians 5:23, NKJV)

The Apostles refer to the "one body" as the Body of Christ. This is the Church built by Christ in which He is the Head and also the Savior.
